Ontario boosts income cap for Disability Support Program recipients
Ontario: The Ontario government has increased the amount for individuals associated with the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) in the province. But there has been no change in funding for those who cannot enter the workforce.
The announcement in this regard was made in its economic statement issued by the province.
In this document, the government said that they are going to increase this amount from the amount that a person associated with ODSP can earn in a month from $ 200 to $ 1,000.
After this, the ODSP who gets a single dollar, their benefits will be reduced by 25 cents.
Prior to this change, payments will be reduced by 50 cents on every dollar to be acquired after $200. The changes will allow 25,000 individuals in the workforce to retain their earnings and allow another 25,000 to participate in the workforce, the economic statement said.
Based on these figures, these new changes will affect 10 percent of the province’s half a million people who receive ODSP.
