Sikh Man’s turban ripped off in attack in Canada, Toronto mayor condemns
Toronto: A Sikh man was allegedly attacked and toasted his turban by an unidentified man at a subway station in Canada, Police said.
Police received information about an attack on the Bloor-Yang Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway station following the incident last week.
Toronto police said in a statement that the suspect had been arrested. He allegedly made derogatory remarks at the victim before leaving the station. The victim sustained minor injuries on his head. The attacker was wearing a blue cap and a black jacket and was carrying a black bag.
Condemning the incident, Toronto Mayor John Tory said, “Hate has no place in our city. We call upon all to stand together against discrimination and violence.”
