Freeland silent on tanks for Ukraine, But says, Ukraine’s victory will boost global economy
Ottawa: Efforts have been intensified by the US and Germany to send battle tanks to Ukraine. But Canada is still not saying whether the federal government has any plans to take such a step.
Meanwhile, US officials said Washington’s decision to send the M1 Abrams tank to Ukraine is going to be approved. This step is being taken to help Ukraine in the war waged by Russia.

Yet Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly did not say whether such a decision was being taken by Canada. Speaking to reporters in French, Joly said all she can say at the moment is that she will fully cooperate with her partners.
It is worth mentioning here that the Canadian Army has 112 Leopard 2 tanks. But some analysts say Canada will have to look at its training and operational requirements before making such a decision.
