Quantum of punishment against Dera chief in murder case; 144 imposed in Panchkula
Panchkula: The district administration has beefed up security outside the local court complex here on Tuesday as the special CBI court will pronounce the quantum of sentence against Sirsa Dera chief Ram Rahim and four others in a Dera follower murder case.
The administration has already imposed Section 144 restricting gathering of people. A CBI court convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and four others in former Dera manager Ranjit Singh’s murder case.
Ram Rahim will be produced from Sunaria Jail in Rohtak via video-conferencing, while the other four accused will be present in person.
Dera chief was sentenced under sections 302, 120B of IPC and the quantum of sentence will be pronounced on October 12.
Other accused have been identified as Avtar Singh, Dera manager Krishan Lal and shooters Jasbir Singh and Sabdil Singh. Another accused Inder Sain passed away in October 2020.
The Dera chief has already been sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment, in August 2017, for raping two women followers and for murdering a journalist.
