B.C. schools are underprepared this fall, says union

Vancouver: Amidst the fear of fourth wave of COVID-19 virus, schools are reopening this Tuesday in British Columbia. However, according to the president of B.C. Teachers’ Federation, Mooring, this time the schools in BC are not prepared to handle the safety measures than the last year. According to the union, this time there are no cohorts, no physical distancing, no limits to school visitors or school gatherings. Moreover, educators’ health is more concerned as they will be more stressed out.

Last month, when the province announced the back to school plan, only students in grades 4-12 will be required to wear masks in the classrooms. But, Mooring wants that the province must mandate this rule for the students from kindergarten to grade 3 also. Moreover, in school vaccination clinics must be built across the provinces besides in district vaccination centers. The COVID-19 virus is transmitted through the air so all the ventilation systems in schools across B.C. must be upgraded.
