Canada announces it will donate 200 armoured vehicles to Ukraine
Ottawa: Defence Minister Anita Anand, who was on a surprise visit to Ukraine on Wednesday, announced that Canada will send 200 armoured vehicles to Ukraine to help the war-torn country.
These vehicles have been purchased from Rochelle, a company based in Mississauga, Ontario, at a cost of $ 90 million. Canada is once again making a big contribution in response to Russia’s ascent of Ukraine in February last year.
In the spring of last year, Canada sent eight Senator Armoured Personnel Carriers manufactured by Rochelle to Ukraine, and recently Canada has promised to provide Ukraine with an air defense system made in the United States at a cost of $ 406 million.
Objections were also raised from many quarters to such a declaration. Questions are also being asked as to why canada is buying such military-related sophisticated weapons and equipment from the US for Ukraine and why such weapons and systems are not developed for the Canadian military.
Anita Anand met her counterpart Oleksii Yuriyovych Reznikov during this one-day visit to Ukraine. Anand will also participate in a meeting on Ukraine being held in Germany on Friday under the leadership of the US.
