Ottawa: Although most people of her age typically retreat from the spotlight of public life, Hazel McCallion, a Canadian businesswoman, has yet not decided to slow down.
She is currently 101 years old and recently accepted an offer to be the director for the greater Toronto airport authority.
She retired as politician after serving as the fifth mayor of Mississauga, Ontario, from 1978 until 2014.
Born on February 14, 1921 (age 101) at Port Daniel, Quebec, Canada, she was first elected as Mayor in 1978 and is the longest serving mayor in the city’s history, as she almost served 36 years.
Her supporters call her “Hurricane Hazel” because of her outspoken political style.
Meanwhile, Omar Alghabra, Canada’s transport minister also extended her wishes and congratulated her.
