Ottawa: The Canadian government planning to resettle at least 40,000 Afghan nationals, has now welcomed a total of 12,160 Afghan refugees till today while the government is putting efforts for more arriving every week.
“Canada has now welcomed 12,160 Afghan Refugees. This #NationalVolunteerWeek, I want to thank those who have given their time to help new arrivals settle into their communities,” said Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.
He further said that Groups across Canada like @AfghanCala are raising money to supply airfare, medication and basic necessities to newcomers.
While @CCISAB is partnering with local salons to provide haircuts and self-care to recently arrived refugees.
“Books Over Borders has donated over 1,500 books to Afghan children across the country. These are just a few examples of how Canadians and communities are getting involved to help some of the world’s most vulnerable,”he tweeted.
