A comparison of 2025 and 2026 reveals how CES transitioned from showcasing ideas to validating business models.

The contrast between CES 2025 and CES 2026 is stark. While CES 2025 focused on proving the possibilities of artificial intelligence, extended reality, and robotics, CES 2026 emphasized execution, deployment, and monetization.

In 2025, exhibitors leaned heavily on generative AI demonstrations, early XR experiences, and conceptual robotics. The emphasis was on imagination and future potential. Investors explored broadly, and startups focused on visibility rather than revenue.

By 2026, the tone had changed. Autonomous AI agents replaced copilots. XR moved from entertainment to enterprise training, broadcasting, and commerce. Robotics appeared not as prototypes but as deployed systems in logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing.

Most notably, CES 2026 reflected a market correction. Investors were selective, enterprises demanded ROI, and partnerships outweighed publicity. Companies that could demonstrate real customers, operating margins, and scalability dominated the conversation.

CES 2026 did not feel louder — it felt more serious.

Ontario: A new strategy has been announced by the Ford government to promote police regulation in Ontario. Under this scheme, it has been decided to reduce the cost for new recruits and in the new bill, it has also been decided to reduce the educational qualification for this work.

Premier Doug Ford said his government would bring in a bill that would end the condition of post-secondary education for police recruits which means that only a high school diploma will be enough to join the police.

Speaking from The Toronto Police College in Itobico on Tuesday, Ford said crime in Toronto has increased by more than 20 percent at the same time last year. People don’t feel safe.

We need more police officers around us.

With the new bill, the Community Safety and Policing Act (CSPA) will be amended so that a secondary school diploma is enough to become a police officer. The province is also working on eliminating tuition fees for a 12-week basic constable training program at Ontario Police College.

The decision to abolish tuition fees will be implemented from early 2023. The province says that this fee will be refunded to the recruits who have paid this fee this year.

Toronto: A 16-year-old boy is among the three men arrested in connection with several incidents of carjacking that took place in different areas of the city in mid-April.

Toronto police said there were four incidents of carjacking in the Parkwoods and Waxford/Marywell areas between April 17 and April 19.

The area is located on The Don Valley Parkway on Highway 401 and Humber Street near Finch Avenue West on Jane Street. According to investigators, in each case, a man approached the driver with a handgun and demanded a vehicle from him. In three cases, the man managed to take away the vehicles but in the fourth case he had to return empty-handed from the area.

Police identified the three suspects and arrested two of them, a man and a woman, on April 20 with the stolen vehicle. During the investigation, the police also found a third vehicle. Investigators searched the three vehicles and recovered evidence related to the investigation. Police found an Airsoft handgun with an extended magazine. Jonathan Hoffman, a 33-year-old from Toronto, has been charged with 24 counts. and robbery on the head of weapons.

These include robbery, possession of arms, possession of weapons despite prohibition orders and robbery on the head of weapons.

Meanwhile, 31-year-old Jessica Chalk from Toronto has also been charged with possessing stolen property acquired by crime. He has been released after the undertaking and his next appearance is on May 30. The police were unable to locate the third suspect, who is 16 years old. Therefore, warrants were issued for his arrest. However, on April 22, Mashkook surrendered. 11 charges have been slapped against this teenager.

Toronto: A 12-year-old boy has been detained in connection with cases of sexual assault on several women last summer on walking trails in the eastern part of Toronto.

The first incident occurred on July 7, 2022, when a woman was running on the Gatineau Hydro Corridor Trail on Burchmount Road in Scarborough.

It was alleged that the boy blocked the woman’s path with his bike and then sexually assaulted her. A day after the incident, another woman was riding a bicycle in the same area when a boy stopped her on the pretext of showing her a trick and then sexually assaulted her.

On July 22, the 54-year-old woman was walking along the East Dawn Valley trail when the suspect approached her and asked her for water. After sexually assaulting the woman, he fled the area on his bike. The next day, a 52-year-old woman was walking with the East Don River Trail when a boy on a bike sexually assaulted her from behind her.

The police also received information about two more such incidents on September 7. Two women said that a boy riding a bike came from behind and sexually assaulted them. The first incident occurred near Burchmount Road on St. Clare Avenue in Scarborough. The second incident took place on the East Don River Trail.

During the investigation, the police twice asked the court to temporarily release its photograph to identify the suspect.

The 12-year-old boy was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts of sexual assault. He was only 11 years old when the five incidents took place and hence could not be charged in a criminal manner, police said. The suspect will be produced in court later. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his identity cannot be issued.

“While I would like to thank Minister St-Onge and the government for their vote of confidence and for their ongoing efforts to prioritize safe sport in Canada, I also wish to stress that we still have work to do to change the culture of our sport, ” he added.

Toronto: The drivers in Toronto who block intersections during red lights will face heavy penalty from authorities. This is called blocking the box and the city is preparing to crack down on such drivers.

The city has appealed to the province that in this way, if any driver is trapped in the middle of the intersection, then they should be fined heavily.

The City Council has approved a resolution moved by Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie in this regard and the city has also appealed to the Ford government to impose strict fines in this regard. McKelvie said that due to wrong driving behavior, other people’s time and money are wasted and the jam in such a place looks different.

Currently, the blocking the box carries a fine of $85, but the city wants the fine to be up to $450. If someone gets caught in blocking the box in a community safe zone, the city wants to impose a fine of $500 instead of the $125 fine it now imposes. The city has also asked the general manager of transportation services to find other solutions in place of fines.

Toronto: Eight people, including members of an Indian family, drowned in the St Lawrence River while trying to enter the US illegally from Canada.

Police found the bodies near a capsized boat in an area of Quebec during an aerial search with the Canadian Coast Guard on Thursday morning, according to local media news.

Lee-Ann O’Brien, deputy chief of the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service, told a news conference on Friday, “The six men are believed to be from two families. “All of them are believed to be trying to enter the US illegally from Canada,” the official said.

Eight people, including two children, were found dead in a swamp near the Canada-US border after trying to enter the United States illegally, police said on Friday.

Their bodies were found near the sunken boat of a missing man from the Akwesasne Mohawk community, officials said. “A total of eight bodies have now been recovered from the water,” local police chief Sean Dullude told a news conference.

The Mohawk tribal region is spread across the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario, and the US state of New York.

The capsized boat was described as “very small” due to bad weather conditions including rain, hailstorm and strong wind. The first body was found during an aerial search of the area.

Authorities are awaiting the results of the post-mortem and toxicology test to ascertain the cause of death. Speaking to reporters, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said: “Our thoughts are with the families of those killed, it is a heartbreaking situation.”
