CDS General Bipin Rawat’s chopper crashes in Tamil Nadu; 13 feared dead
New Delhi: An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter with chief of defence staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat on board crashed near Conoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, the IAF has confirmed. The CDS was accompanied by his wife Madhulika Rawat, his staff and other officials, people familiar with the development said.
There were 14 persons on board the IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, including the crew.
An ANI tweet, quoting sources, said 13 of the 14 passengers aboard the chopper were dead. Identities of the bodies will be confirmed through DNA testing.
