Covid-19: Majority of Toronto students enrolled for in-person learning
Ottawa: Less than 5,000 students in Toronto registered for virtual learning in September, which was a much lower figure compared to the last year.
According to the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), 3,300 elementary students and 1,500 secondary students registered for virtual learning for the 2022-2023 school year. Similarly, in 2021-2022 session, 17,000 elementary students and 8,000 secondary students enrolled for virtual learning.
TDSB spokesperson Ryan Bird said, “We hoped that this time the number would be very low. Some feel that in-person learning will be better for them, while others feel that virtual learning is right for them.”
The TDSB is still finalising the guidance for September but the classes will be the same as last year amid most of the COVID-19 norms are the same as before.
Although most of the health and safety standards have been removed by the Ministry of Education, some still remain the same.
