Delta ‘Plus’ Covid variant may be more transmissible
News Bureau
London: A recent study has revealed that a new mutated form of COVID-19 virus, also known as “Delta Plus” is likely to spread more easily than regular Delta.
This variant has been put under investigation category by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to reflect this possible risk. There is, however, no evidence so far that it causes worse illness.
Experts are confident that covid vaccines will work well against this virus to protect people. In the UK cases of “Delta Plus” or AY.4.2 have been increasing.
Latest official data suggests 6% of Covid cases are of this type.
