Government of Canada rejects Pope Francis’ apology
Quebec City: Canada’s government clarified that an apology sought by Pope Francis over the atrocities on indigenous peoples in Aboriginal schools run by churches in the country was unacceptable. The government said there is still a lot to be done in the reconciliation efforts being made during the current times for the bad behaviour that has taken place in the past.
The government’s reaction comes as Pope Francis arrived in Quebec City during the second leg of his weekly visit to Canada, where he met Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Governor General Mary Simon’s residence.
