India-made spray linked to rare illness in U.S.
New York: America’s public health agency revealed that an aromatherapy spray, which was manufactured in India and being sold in the US, has been found to contain a bacteria that has led to sickness to four people earlier this year, of which two persons died/
After conducting laboratory testing, it has been found that the bacteria Burkholderia pseudomallei in the aromatherapy spray ‘Better Homes & Gardens Lavender & Chamomile Essential Oil Infused Aromatherapy Room Spray with Gemstones, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said adding that this was the same type of virus that sickened the four people early this year.
“CDC is further examining if the genetic fingerprint of the bacteria in the bottle matches to sick people including one each in Georgia, Kansas, Texas, and Minnesota,” the agency said.
