Inmate from Atlantic jail died while in custody

Ottawa: A prisoner, identified as Dany Bernatchez from Atlantic Institution died while in the custody.

He was serving a sentence of 13 years since January 19, 2017 for pointing a firearm, disguise with intent of robbery and intimidation of a justice system participant/journalist, failure to comply with probation order, and some others.

Meanwhile, the inmate family had been informed and officials are conducting further probe and no further information was divulged.

All cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances.
