Mississauga lawyer accused of duping clients of $10 million arrested at Pearson airport
Mississauga: A lawyer in Mississauga has been accused of duping his clients of $10 million. Mortgage payments made by his clients were allegedly pocketed by this lawyer.
Peel Regional Police said that between June 2021 and December 2021, many people took various types of services from Shahid Malik.
The lawyer is also the owner and operator of Shahid Malik law office in Mississauga.
Malik, 41, was hired by people to complete his real estate transactions on time. But police said that nothing of that sort happened.
In a release, the police said Malik’s clients provided him with several million dollars for real estate transactions to pay their mortgages. It was also alleged that these mortgages were not paid by Shahid Malik despite repeated requests from the clients.
He was arrested on his return to Pearson Airport in Canada. The brampton man has been charged with cheating people and the Breach of Trust.
