Netflix estimates 100 million households share passwords, global crackdown soon
Toronto: Concerned over increasing users sharing passwords with multiple acquaintances, Netflix is planning for a global crackdown in coming days.
Netflix estimates 100 million households are sharing passwords with others after borrowing from a family member’s or friend’s login information.
Over 30 million US and Canadian households are using same account after sharing password to access content of the application, said Netflix officials.
While over 100 million additional households across globe doing the same practice, causing huge losses to the company.
Sources said that company did not consider to stop this practice, however, company recently lost subscription for the first time in more than a decade. Therefore, now Netflix will soon make to pay up accounts that share passwords.
