Surrey civic election 2022 gearing up for a multi-corner contest on October 15
Ottawa: All parties have now begun intensifying campaigning for crucial Surrey’s civic election 2022 elections, which are now 13 more weeks before voting day.
Till now, five slates have fielded candidates with five mayoral candidates while 22 candidates for council are going to be announced soon, for voting on October 15.
The August 2 deadline for electoral organisations to register has been finalised by the Election BC. Following this, candidates have to submit their nomination to local election office between August 30 and September 9.
The Election BC set up spending limit of $219,193.36 for Surrey mayoral candidates.
Meanwhile, the Safe Surrey Coalition needs four more councillor candidates to run a full slated.
MP Sukh Dhaliwal, who enters election contest as mayoral candidate this week, is also expecting to add four more candidates for councillors in his United Surrey team. Dhaliwal confirmed that they are not contesting for school board.
Surrey Forward of Jinny Sims slate also requires two more candidates to fill out her team. Sims is its mayoral candidate.
Similarly, Coun. Brenda Locke, of Surrey Connect, an aspirant of mayoral post, states that three more councillor candidates are on the way. Surrey Connect is not running candidates for school board.
