Susan Holt is new Brunswick Liberal leader
Ottawa: In a historical move, the New Brunswick Liberal Party has selected its new leader Susan Holt after she won poll a margin of third ballot with 51.67 per cent of the vote against Former Liberal MP T.J. Harvey.
She has become the first ever female to win the party’s leadership in the province.
She will now lead the party into the next election against the governing Progressive Conservatives now led by Premier Blaine Higgs.
Calling her victory a ‘Bold Change’, Holt said, “I am humbled to have earned your trust to lead the Liberal Party of New Brunswick. I’ve been loud and clear that I want to change the way we do politics. And I’m so grateful that you do too.”
She said that this campaign—and the last few months of travelling around the province—have affected me deeply. I love this province more than ever. I feel connected to our communities more than ever. I more proud of our people than ever before.
In New Brunswick, regardless of language, color, place of origin, we are friends and neighbours.
“I’m proud that our campaign brought people back into the Liberal fold. I’m proud that we’ve attracted new and enthusiastic members. The work doesn’t stop now. I’ll continue to reach out to people and meet them on their terms. With authenticity, an open heart, and curious mind, “she said.
