TD customer questions $50 charge for donating to Ukraine aid efforts
Ottawa: A woman in Toronto has questioned TD banks after she was charged $50 for donating funds to Ukrainian relief efforts after Russia’s invasion.
The bank, however, later refunded the money which she filed a complaint.
Krystyne Rusek, who is Ukrainian-Canadian said that she contributed $1,600 on March 1, to support Ukraine’s military against Russia. However, she was changed $50 as wire transfer fee, which she paid but later felt it was unnecessary.
She said that she paid the fees but was upset about it as she said that $50 was nothing for her but some people might be contributing $100 only and for them, this charges may actually dissuade them from making that donation.”
TD spokesperson Erin Sufrin clarified that customers who sent a wire transfer before that date could receive a refund.
