Thousands in Canada’s Ottawa protest COVID mandates, many rebuked
Ottawa: Thousands of people gathered to protest against vaccine mandates, masks and lockdowns, in Canada’s capital on Saturday.
Agitators parked trucks and cars in around Parliament Hill with some parking on the grounds of the National War Memorial before police asked them to move.
“Parking on this sacred ground that includes the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was a sign of complete disrespect,” Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson tweeted.
“I am sickened to see protesters dance on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and desecrate the National War Memorial. Generations of Canadians have fought and died for our rights, including free speech, but not this. Those involved should hang their heads in shame,” Gen. Wayne Eyre, Canada’s Defense Staff chief tweeted.
