Three Punjabi youths detained in Canada in connection with elderly couple’s murder case
British Columbia: Police have detained three Punjabi youths and charged them with first-degree murder in connection with the murder of an elderly couple in Abbotsford in May.
According to the police, the murdered couple were identified as Arnold de Jong, 77, of Abbotsford and his wife, 76-year-old Joanne de Jong.
The bodies were found on May 9, 2022, at their residence in the 33,600-block of Arcadian Way in Abbotsford. He was the owner of a local trucking company.
On December 16, a team from Abbotsford police, arrested three suspects in connection with the double murder.
All three are Punjabi youths and all three are residents of Surrey, including 20-year-old Gurkaran Singh, 22-year-old Abhijit Singh and 22-year-old Khushveer Toor. The three have been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
