Washington: Indian-American Radha Iyengar Plumb has been appointed as deputy defence secretary. This has been confirmed by the US Senate. The Senate today voted for Deputy Under Secretary of Defence Radha Iyengar Plumb. She won by a vote of 68-30.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden had nominated Radha Iyengar Plumb for the post of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Adoption and Sustainment. She is currently serving as the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary of Defense and was nominated for the Pentagon’s top post in June 2022.
Prior to her appointment as Chief of Staff, Radha was director of research and insights for trust and security at Google, leading business analytics, data science and technical research teams. He also served as the global head of policy analysis at Facebook.
She has also held several senior positions on national security issues in the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy and the National Security Council of the White House.
